Economic Development

CRC drives economic development in Virginia’s Heartland by coordinating regional strategy, supporting federal designations, and strengthening local capacity. From CEDS planning to intergovernmental collaboration, we help communities grow, compete, and thrive.

Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS)

CRC leads the region’s federally recognized CEDS, guiding strategic priorities and aligning local projects with funding opportunities to support infrastructure, workforce development, and business growth.

Southeast Crescent Regional Commission (SCRC – LDD)

CRC is a designated Local Development District (LDD) under the Southeast Crescent Regional Commission. We assist communities with identifying eligible projects, coordinating applications, and accessing SCRC funding opportunities.

Economic Development District (EDD)

As an official Economic Development District for the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), CRC connects localities with EDA planning grants, infrastructure funding, and technical assistance to advance long-term growth.

Virginia’s Heartland Regional Economic Development Alliance (VHREDA)

CRC played a lead role in establishing VHREDA and hiring its first Executive Director. We continue to support the Alliance’s mission to promote site readiness, business attraction, and collaborative regional marketing.
